About Allen Siegel, MD, PC

Dr. Allen Siegel, a well-respected psychiatrist in the Chicago, Illinois, area, graduated from Northwestern University and obtained his medical degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. Dr. Siegel went on to complete an internship at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center, where he also fulfilled his residency in psychiatry. Dr. Allen Siegel gained additional expertise at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis, and he later served as the Institute’s Director of the Distance Learning Program.

Among his numerous academic and clinical appointments, Dr. Allen Siegel acted as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Rush University Medical Center and served for 10 years as an Attending Physician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Institute of Psychiatry. He also worked as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine.

Today, Dr. Allen Siegel heads The Nautilos Group, a consultancy specializing in the emotional and interpersonal issues that come into play for CEOs, including those managing family-owned businesses. Recognizing that family conflicts can often spill over into the business environment in such situations, The Nautilos Group aims to equip upper management employees with the tools and organizing principles they need to successfully navigate these issues. Dr. Allen Siegel’s services are uniquely designed and tailored to provide advice that normal business consultants cannot.

A noted author, Dr. Allen Siegel has written numerous articles for journals and magazines and currently serves as International Editor for the journal Psychoanalytic Inquiry. His book, Heinz Kohut and the Psychology of the Self, is an overview of post-Freudian theories from this important thinker. He also contributed a chapter to Lessons and Legacies: The Meaning of the Holocaust in a Changing World.

Committed to raising Holocaust awareness, Dr. Allen Siegel held a seat on the Professional Board of Holocaust Educational Foundation. In addition, he interviewed Holocaust survivors as part of a videotape project for Yale University and Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial. He also served as a representative of the Chicago Action for Soviet Jewry, a project in support of refuseniks. Dr. Allen Siegel has received numerous recognitions and awards from his community, and he holds membership in American Psychoanalytic Association and International Psychoanalytic Association.
